Lived Places Publishing (LPP) is on a mission to enhance the academic course reading market with concise books that explore the intersection of identity and place in interdisciplinary collections. Dedicated to fostering open access and affordability, LPP’s approach is designed to make high-quality, curriculum-ready content widely accessible through a library-first model.
To achieve its global expansion and mission, LPP sought a strategic partner to enhance its publishing quality and output and expand its global distribution of print and digital. Enter Newgen, which took on the challenge of launching a cutting-edge library platform and streamlining various operational facets.
Beginning in Q3 2021, Newgen and LPP embarked on a transformative journey, utilizing Newgen’s Managed Services to set up essential systems and processes. This partnership introduced several key innovations:
Library Platform – Nova: A robust, white-label content management and distribution system supporting integration with existing library systems. Nova handles perpetual access sales, subscriptions, collection building, and analytics, providing an end-to-end solution.
Comprehensive Support Services: From editorial assistance and content management to e-commerce functionality and website maintenance, Newgen provided full-spectrum support to ensure a smooth operational flow.
David Parker, Founder and Publisher of LPP, emphasizes the impact of this partnership: “Launching a library platform involves significant investment and complex operations. Newgen helped us create a platform that not only supports our library collection but also integrates seamlessly with existing systems. It’s a game-changer for our accessibility and library affordability goals.”
Outcome: Since the collaboration began, LPP has experienced remarkable growth, securing over 40 prestigious library clients in the US, Canada, New Zealand, Europe and the UK, and maintaining a robust publishing schedule of more than 50 books per year across more than 20 collections. The result is a dynamic and expanding library of over 40 published works as of August 2024 since founding in July of 2021, reflecting LPP’s commitment to making valuable academic resources available to a global audience.
Newgen’s strategic support has been pivotal in enabling LPP to realize its vision of accessible, impactful academic content, setting a new standard for the industry.
