The Nandavanam Healing Center provides unique spaces where children with developmental challenges find expression and healing. The Center provides medical interventions, special education, physical therapies, vocational training, and nutritional support.
Art sessions are especially therapeutic. The ‘wet on wet’ painting method, an approach that focuses on the interaction of water color paint with wet paper, allows for a fluid, process-oriented form of expression that is less about the creation of realistic images and more about exploring emotions and fostering a sense of balance.
At the Center, this practice is part of a comprehensive support system for children and young adults with a range of developmental challenges, including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and severe learning disabilities.
Here, students are encouraged to express themselves in a safe environment, where the emphasis is on the artistic process rather than the outcome. This program has enabled students to move beyond conventional art subjects, like trees and houses, to create artworks that are uniquely their own, reflecting their individual styles and emotions.
The art created by these children, a testament to their resilience and creativity, serve not just as a showcase of the children’s talent but also as a symbol of hope and new beginnings.
Offering inspiration and joy to others as we welcome the new year, we hope these heartfelt artistic expressions will not only highlight the therapeutic power of art but also underscore the importance of providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children with developmental challenges.
Everyone at Newgen and the Nandavanam Healing Center wish you a Happy New Year.
